Tonight Krissy Wilson comes to show and hunt. 8 pm!

Our fall 2012 and spring 2013 calendar is up, including beginning and end dates for the semesters, breaks (2 weeks per semester), Gainesville events such as Fest, the Spring and Fall arts festivals and FEST11 and all ArtWalk events and prospective guest artists in some cases. We left out the Hoggtowne Medieval Fair – you can look that up yourself.

The fall 2012 semester will be starting August 27, and ending December 14. There will be two week-long breaks. One from Oct 15-19 for our low-residency program and one for Thanksgiving.

The spring 2013 semester will begin January 7 and end April 26. There will be a two week break from Feb 25-March 9 in which SAW will run different programs, including possibly another John Porcellino workshop, from March 4-9.

Her latest project is finding odd google-transcriptions of audio on youtube.

She’ll be at SAW May 11 talking about these, showing them and doing a live hunt of some of these digital foraging projects.

SAW founder Tom Hart has been busy lecturing at the University of Florida, including a workshop at this year’s ImageText conference and an upcoming appearance at Digital Worlds on April 26, ”LiveVibe TV” where he is presenting his work in front of 30 foot screens of his artwork.  Click the link to find out how to stream that show live about or how attend live in the audience.

In addition, Tom recently outed himself as the “Shit My New Yorker Cartoons” blogger. Daring to criticize in intelligent detail the cartoons in The New Yorker, he found himself at the center of a bit of a movement of people who have found themselves disatisfied for some time.

In addition, work continues apace on the Department of Defense project, which involves creating a web-based portal and tool for veterans and service members to tell their own graphic-narrative stories. Links to follow.
