Make This Your Warrior Year
You've spent the last year wondering what and why.
Trying to get things moving, and make things better, but you've felt stymied. Things aren't progressing. Things aren't changing. Obstacles remain obstacles. They're internal, they're external. They're everywhere.
This is your year to make a change. This is your Warrior Year.
- What are you going to do?
- What action will you take?
- What will you wrestle down?
- What will you stop being afraid of?
I can't draw like I want, my ideas aren't as good as I want them to be, my stories don't make sense, I feel anxious all the time, I don't know what to do next, how to move forward, I don't know what I want, am I even an artist or not?
We've all been there.
My co-teacher Justine and I have been all the way at the bottom, struggling with self-doubt, with INACTION, with feeling lousy, with discouraging voices inside and outside our heads. Every day we triumph, and in the year-long program, we go deep and make sure you come out triumphant, too.
Better at what you were. More than you thought you were. More confident.
Believe our previous students:
A wonderful realization after I left SAW was that I knew *how* to be an artist and not a person that does art blindly. - Chance Miller, 2013
I'm very happy to say I am getting more out of my time at SAW than I ever could've imagined.
Thanks to SAW I feel like I am on the right track to finding my voice as an artist. - Miguel Yurrita, 2014
SAW made me a better person- more confident as a person and an artist. -Jenny Guan, 2015
It's more valuable than you realize, an atmosphere of other artists, the students and the teachers, the aspiring and the published, your friends and your rivals. They push you to be greater. The least you can do is try to be good enough to push them higher too. - Joseph Garland, 2015
Like most artists, I've struggled with a variety of technical, creative and emotional issues pertaining to my work. SAW's supportive and encouraging atmosphere has helped give me the confidence needed to take risks and feel proud of the work I'm doing. - Michelle Tabares, 2014
SAW was everything I needed, in the right place at the right time. I learned so much in such a short amount of time. I learned from some of the most dedicated, compassionate people I’ve ever met, with 9 wonderful classmates. - Miranda Harmon, 2014
I think back on my time at SAW almost every day, the amount I got out of my year there is amazing… I’d probably have quit comics without Tom and Justine’s guidance. I think a lot about how much I’d get out of taking the full-year program again. - Bjorn Miner, 2013
