Announcing our first ever live, online weekend workshops. For four weekends in July, SAW alumni will lead you through a weekend of new skills and new ideas.
GRAPHIC HISTORY WITH JB BRAGER
Starting Friday July 9 to Sunday July 11 cartoonist and educator, JB Brager, will teach Graphic History.
Are you a history buff interested in making comics about your favorite unknown hero of the past? Do you love making comics but could use some help building historical worlds?
In Graphic History, we will learn how to do historical research with the aim of creating comics about history, and work towards finishing a short comic about your topic of choice. Come learn how to find answers to burning questions like "how did butts look in pants in 1932?"

EXPERIMENTING FOR COMICS WITH ANTHONY AIUPPY
Friday July 16 to Sunday July 18 join Anthony Aiuppy in Experimenting for Comics.
Are you looking to loosen up your drawings? Have you been struggling to find a way to experiment with different image making techniques on your own? In this workshop Anthony will introduce you to various methods and techniques to get you playing with traditional and alternative materials, and take your finished comics to the next level.

BOOK MAKING FOR COMICS WITH JILL LITTLEWOOD
Our third workshop will be held Friday July 23 to Sunday July 25. Led by artist, Jill Littlewood, this Book Making workshop will explore the ways that principles of art book making can be used to augment storytelling in comics.
In this class Jill will show you all kinds of book forms - variations of simple pamphlet form using pop-ups, pockets, envelopes and different papers; easy origami; accordion books… No previous experience required, everyone welcome!
GRAPHIC MEMOIR WORKSHOP WITH BETH TREMBLEY
Our final July weekend workshop, Friday July 30 to Sunday August 1, is led by Dr Beth Trembley, with guest speaker, Tom Hart, talking all things Graphic Memoir and Graphic Medicine.
This workshop is meant for anyone aged 18 and over already working on a graphic memoir. Maybe you have a few pages of script or some scribbles in a notebook. Maybe you have already drafted 200 pages of art! As long as you’ve begun your project and have a dozen or so pages of unfinished work to share for the workshops, this event is for you!
