What’s Involved
In this 5 week course, you’ll engage with:
Week 1: Laying Out
Comics layouts are cool: panel, gutter, beat, page, spacing.
Week 2: Devicing
Layout is the body, devices are the organs.
Week 3: Drawing
Drawing is thinking, drawing becomes thinking
Storytelling is problem-solving in action
Week 4: Thinking
How do you feel? What do you think is happening?
What are the characters feeling or thinking?
Week 5: Deconstruction and Construction
Open your eyes. Use this knowledge for evil.
Ms. Yee will provide lectures, demonstrations, readings and exercises to guide you to a new intuitive ability to use and understand Comics Layouts.

Reimena Yee
Instructor
Reimena is a strange and fancy graphic novelist, illustrator and designer originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and currently based in Melbourne, Australia. She is also the curator behind the Comics Devices Library and the co-founder and co-organiser of UNNAMED and the Cartoonist Cooperative.
