SAW LOCAL: TEEN SUMMER WORKSHOPS
We’re back with our annual teen summer camp here at SAW. Over two separate weeks, visiting artist Sarah Maloney will guide curious comics makers through all the ins and outs of storytelling and artmaking for graphic narratives.
This is a fun, fast-paced, hands-on creative learning experience designed especially for teens and tweens.

Week One Monday June 17 to Friday June 21, 2024
Week Two Monday June 24 to Friday June 28, 2024
Teens are invited to join up for one or both weeks. Both weeks meet Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 4 pm each day with an hour long lunch break at 1 pm. Note: Lunch is not provided
Where
This is an in person only event in Gainesville, Florida at our studio: 1314 S Main St.
Who
This is for students aged 11-15. No drawing experience is needed but students are encouraged to have an interest and curiosity for comics. Class size is limited to 14 students.
About the Instructor
Sarah (they/she) is a queer visual artist, storyteller and educator. Besides their most recent self published comic, The World Ends With A Poot!, they have self published over 12 comics and zines. Their work has appeared in The Stranger, The Believer, The Rumpus, Scarfff Newspaper and other rad indie publications. They recently graduated from CCA with their MFA in Comics. When they aren’t making comics you can find them selling comics at Silver Sprocket in SF.

This course is priced based on need. Please pay what you can. If you can afford to pay a little more, you'll help us make this awesome class accessible to more students in our community. If you can’t pay full pricing, we don’t want you to be unable to access our classes and we have alternative pricing options for both week one and week two.
The Pay What You Can model isn’t based on provable income, rather you determine what you are able to pay.
