In this 6-week comics-making class, we'll build basic comics creation skills through exercises and short projects.  Students will learn cartooning techniques and tools, design their own characters, practice drawing action, backgrounds and objects, and explore how to tell great stories in comics form.

Spend an afternoon learning to draw horses at farm in Alachua. Roxanne Palmer will break down horse anatomy and offer guidance as you draw horses from life.

An amazing week!

Last week saw our first LOW-RESIDENCY WORKSHOP in our new space. It was fantastic. 9 people from all over the country, and breakthrough and after breakthrough.

This is a playful one day workshop based on expanding your visual vocabulary with found and traditional materials.

In Drawing from the Depths, students develop authentic approaches to creating emotionally charged work without resorting to cliche or sentimentalism. In class, we’ll discuss works by artists who excel at delving into deep emotional terrain. 

The first thing I tell people who want to add more depth and details in their art is to look for the layers. In my classes we examine the layers of masterful work from the front to the back, and then analyze how they arranged and rendered each layer.
